Since the middle of the 1990s, the chamber and association partnership programme has been implemented by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) via SEQUA gGmbH as an important instrument of development cooperation with developing countries and emerging markets.
The objective of this programme is to make a contribution to the development of the local economy by strengthening employers' associations and thus to reduce poverty.
The strength of these projects is, on the one hand, in their implementation by private institutions and, on the other hand, in their long-term sustainability. With a duration of six to eight years, it is possible to gradually achieve lasting alterations and to give these a permanent anchor.
